Category: accessible Devices
Hi, I'm wondering, does anyone have any good recomendations for an accessible tablet, besides the iPad?
unfortunately, you need to wait until you can get one with Android 4.0 since talkback doesn't work very well on the android tablets.
the iPhone 4s is very accessible.
sorry James, sorry for giving you bad news, but up till this very moment, IPad or IPhone will be your best bet in terms of accessibility. other wise, the only option you have will be getting a Braille Sens or Braille Note to suits your need. if not, another option will be to get a netbook. otherwise, wait for another 12 months or 24months, Androy might have something better to offer than now.
Just to let you know, some android icecream sandwidge tablits have been released, and talkback and the eye's free keyboard work with the tablets. yes the internal browser does work as well for us now on icecream sandwidge. Yea!!! about time we can use that thing instead of a a third party dev's browser.
You know, my boyfriend has an Android-based tablet from Samsung, I think. Because I'm nerdy like that, I made him go into the accessibility settings. He's had it since Christmas, so I don't know that it's the most recent one which was previously mentioned. I didn't use it for long, so I don't know about holes in the system; but what little I did do with it, it was extremely verbose, which I actually didn't like. It was so quick to repeat things that I couldn't focus enough on learning the interface. I'm really not a fan of touch-screen devices, but I think iPad is the way to go. That at least was easier to understand.
The tablet that we have her does not work for talk back or sound back so I do not know what star fly is talking about.
Let me know star fly witch one you would need to get in order for it to be accessible?
I said, it had to have ice-cream sandwidge not honeycomb which a lot of tablets have at this point. If you have had it for a bit or recently got it before ice-cream sandewidge came out, then your going to need to add a blue tooth keyboard to the tablet so you can navigate around the OS. Keep in mind needing a keyboard is only needed if your tablet has honey comb little foot.
think I'm going to have to find these ice cream sandwich tablets.
asus transformer is one of them, it even has a dock with a keyboard if you so choose to buy it.
I'll take a look.
hmm, can you thor me a direct link up here, I saw a few, bit I'm not sure which one is the latest one.
samsung galaxy tabs got some great review on it, if you wanting to go the road of androy sendwich icecream
hmmm, thanks for that, think I"m going to jump around oon ngadget and stuff to look at all these, so far though, I like the asus transformer prime tf201.
tell me when you get one please!, I am holding off buying a tablit because I do not want too by another apple device, their laptops fine, nothing else. Just my preference.
Also, I have lost the my goodness!! Ipad comes outh with the latest hardware for there tablits!, after seeing asus kick the crap out of the Ipad. Android had a quad core tablit befor the Ipad was fitted with one. Just my 2 sence, so I am staying happily with android. If the Ipad works, cool! coodos, not for me.
I was just thinking about getting a tablet soon got a great deal sent to my inbox for a icecream sandwich tablet, now I'm seriously considering it
on the eye's free mailing list a few have ice cream sandwige tablits seem to be getting along with it well. J J medof has one if my memory serves me right.
